Oppo’s Find X ditches the notch for pop-up cameras
A unique design choice. I’m trying to wrap my head around the idea a little bit. It seems as though, On one hand, I’m not a fan of a dynamic chin being added to the phone, but on the other hand, it’s a privacy benefit, this way if an App’s trying to access the camera, you’d know because there’s a chin staring at you, plus you don’t always need a camera while using a phone. If the motorized camera is quick and durable, this isn’t a particularly bad design in my opinion.
But look at the software though! It makes Oppo’s phone look like an iPhone clone. For such a unique hardware, it’s a shame that Oppo has decided to pilfer on another OS’ UI. Unsurprisingly though, Oppo couldn’t copy the fluid interactions that the iOS UI has. From the video, the OS feels exactly what an half baked iOS for iPhone X would feel like. Horrible.
