What happens when you dump the App Store?

I’d love to see the same graphs for a young app by an indie-developer. (For example: Sketch in its early days).

The problem with this sort of analysis is that it usually picks up a developer that’s fairly big. (Rogue Amoeba is a well known studio in developer circles) And while it’s true that those developers have nothing to lose in terms of money by leaving the app store, I feel that this will be very different for someone completely new to Mac development. The Mac App Store in the perfect way for getting your app discovered.

And there’s another aspect to the Mac App Store. It’s about User Convenience. The Mac App Store, is the best way to sell apps internationally. With so much of  the heavy lifting done by Apple in that regard, I feel there’s too much to lose by leaving the Mac App Store, if you care about User Experience.
