M2 Pro Macs have been announced

Apple's M2 Pro Video Announcement

If I am being really honest, this really just needed to be a press release.

All I learnt from the video was:

• Mac Mini has been updated to get M2 and M2 Pro
• MacBook Pro has M2 Pro and M2 Max, and a better battery life.
• M2 Pro and M2 Max are faster than M1 Pro and M2 Max.

The rest of the video was a technical spec sheet on what all is faster and how much faster it is.

I guess the upgrades are fine for those who want to update. I doubt anyone would switch from M1 Pro to M2 Pro, those machines just came out a little over a year ago. Nor do I feel that these updates are intended for those users. These updates are probably for those who didn’t jump on the Intel to M1 Transition Train in 2020 - 2021.

As compelling as these machines are, I am still willing to spend one more year with my Intel machine, and it’s probably for the silliest of reasons, but last summer I tried the Midnight colour M2 MacBook Air for a bit, and it looked stunning. I no longer want to buy a Space Grey laptop.

I fear my wish may not be granted next year either. If rumours are to be believed, Pro people are dull and boring, and apparently they self-combust with rage if they hear the words “colourful, thin and light”.
